Politikjournal24 depends on timely, accurate and specific information from our readers, sources and whistleblowers to break stories and keep our coverage sharp. This page explains what we look for, how to reach the right desk securely, what details help our fact-checking team work quickly, and what you can expect after you submit a tip.
What makes a good tip for Politikjournal24?
A good tip provides concrete, verifiable information about a matter of public interest in Sweden — policy developments, legislative changes, government decisions, municipal politics, economic data, or cultural and societal trends with Swedish relevance. We prioritise tips that expose potential wrongdoing, inefficiency in public bodies, significant policy shifts before they are officially announced, or stories that affect everyday life in Sweden.
Strong tips are specific rather than vague. For example, a tip that includes a document reference, a direct quote from a meeting, or a precise date and location is far more useful than a general observation. We are particularly interested in original reporting leads about the Riksdagen, the Regeringen, Swedish government agencies, kommuner, regional bodies, Wirtschaft news, economic indicators, and cultural institutions. Tips about conflicts of interest, missed regulatory deadlines, or unpublished reports are especially valuable to our newsroom.
How do I send a tip to the newsroom?
You can email our dedicated tip line at tips@politikjournal24.de. For urgent news leads or time-sensitive developments, we recommend newsdesk@politikjournal24.de, which reaches our Redaktionschef Katrin Fischer and the daily newsroom directly. If you have information about a commercial or corporate matter, or wish to contact us about a press release, use press@politikjournal24.de.
We also accept tips by post to our registered office: Level 2, Portomaso Business Tower, St Julian’s, STJ 4011, Malta. Please mark the envelope „Confidential — for the editorial team“. We do not accept tips via social media direct messages as those channels are not secure for sensitive information.
What should I include in my tip?
Include as much verifiable detail as possible: names, dates, locations, organisations involved, and any supporting documentation such as emails, reports, contracts, photographs, or recordings. If you are reporting a pattern, provide multiple examples or a timeline. State clearly why you believe this information is in the public interest and whether you have a personal connection to the story.
Please include your preferred contact method (email or phone) so our journalists can follow up if we need clarification. You are not required to give your real name, but anonymous tips that lack verifiable evidence are significantly harder for our fact-checking team to pursue. If you are a current or former employee of a public body or company, mentioning your role without revealing your identity can help us assess credibility.
How does Politikjournal24 verify tips?
All tips are reviewed by our redaktion, then assigned to the appropriate desk. Our fact-checking department, led by Daniela Vogt (Ansvarig för faktagranskning), conducts source verification, cross-references documents against public records, and contacts relevant parties for comment before any story is published. We never publish a tip based solely on a single anonymous source unless it passes rigorous corroboration.
Our verification process follows standards outlined in our fact-checking policy. We also maintain a detailed Sources & Standards page that explains how we evaluate documentation, handle conflicting accounts, and treat confidential sources. Every published article includes a named writer, editor, and fact-checker approval to ensure accountability.
What about confidentiality and anonymity?
We take source protection seriously. If you request anonymity, we will not share your identity with anyone outside the editorial team. Politikjournal24 will not disclose your contact details to third parties, including advertisers, partners, or law enforcement, unless compelled by a valid legal order from a competent court. We use encrypted email where possible and advise you to avoid workplace or shared computers when contacting us.
If you wish to remain anonymous, please tell us at the time of submission. We will discuss with you what level of anonymity we can guarantee given the nature of the story and the legal jurisdiction involved. Our editorial policy and safeguarding minors policy also govern how we handle vulnerable sources.
What happens after I submit a tip?
Our newsdesk acknowledges receipt of every tip within three working days, though we cannot always provide a detailed response at that stage. The tip is logged, assigned a case number, and reviewed by Redaktionschef Katrin Fischer or the relevant desk editor — for example, Politikredaktör Jonas Hartmann for Riksdagen and Regeringen matters, or Eva Lang for Wirtschaft and economy tips.
If we decide to pursue the story, a journalist will contact you to discuss next steps, request further evidence, or arrange a confidential interview. We aim to update sources on progress every two to four weeks if you have provided contact details. Tips that do not meet our editorial criteria or cannot be verified are securely deleted after 90 days.
If you believe we made an error in reporting your tip, you can submit a correction request to corrections@politikjournal24.de. Our corrections policy explains how we handle, investigate, and publish corrections promptly and transparently.
Who at Politikjournal24 is responsible for tip handling?
Chefredaktör Simon Engels has overall responsibility for editorial standards, publication decisions, and corrections. Redaktionschef Katrin Fischer manages daily newsroom operations, tip triage, headline review, and commissioning. Daniela Vogt, as Ansvarig för faktagranskning, leads the standards desk that verifies all tip-based content before publication. The company behind the site is Mitte Digital Media Limited, registered in Gibraltar (company number C 92102, Malta Business Registry), with its registered office at Level 2, Portomaso Business Tower, St Julian’s, STJ 4011, Malta.
